The Lady Toppers finished their season with an impressive record of 21-11. They completed the season as the number four seed in the district, and finished the district tournament as the third seed which advanced them to the eliminator game at North Pontotoc on February 18, 2008. The Lady Toppers defeated North Pontotoc 49-44 which advanced them to the North Half tournament at Alcorn Central. On Thursday, Feb. 21, the Lady Toppers played the North Panola Lady Cougars in the first round of the North Half Tournament and were defeated by a 20pt margin to end their 2007-2008 season. The Lady Toppers will only lose one player this year. Miss Felicia Westmoreland was sidelined due to an illness in the early part of the season and was unable to complete her senior year. Miss Ty-Nita Baker, a freshman, was also sidelined after a knee injury(torn acl) during the South Panola game but will return next year. The Lady Toppers showed tremendous improvements in their style of play and record going from records of 3-20 in 05-06, 6-20 in 06-07 to an outstanding 21-11 in 07-08. The Lady Toppers are looking forward to improving and perfecting their level of play for the 08-09 season with hopes of making a run to the "Big House" next year in February. Coach Buchanan and Coach Gates will have tryouts for the 08-09 team in mid-May.
